The 2022 State of the County Address will be held on September 29 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with doors opening at 11. This address will be presented by Commissioner Mary Kuney, and she will speak regarding many of the current issues Spokane and the surrounding communities are facing. She will give a rundown of some of the governmental successes they plan to keep building on, as well as finding effective solutions for other community issues. A variety of economic issues, housing, an ever increasing homeless population, and rising crime rates in certain areas will all be brought to the table for discussion. The rate of growth in the area continues to be one of the highest rates in the nation, and she will also provide some insight as to where local government will be looking to invest time. Spokane County has seen a growth rate of over 17 percent since 2010, now the home of over a half million residents in 2022. This puts the county as the fourth largest in the state, and Spokane as the second largest city. Kuney will also speak about how the county will look as it moves into a system with five county districts. "Together Forward" will be this year's theme as the region grows socially and economically. The presentation will be held at the Spokane Convention Center- Centennial Ballroom at 334 W. Spokane Falls Blvd. Spokane, WA 99201.
